Pattaya
East Pattaya is the large residential area inland from Sukhumvit Road, stretching towards Lake Mabprachan, Siam Country Club and the hills behind the city. Instead of condominium towers, this is the land of houses: detached homes and pool villas, many in gated communities with security, as well as townhouses and plots of land. The area is popular with families and with residents who want a garden, more space and parking. Several international schools, including Regents International School Pattaya and Rugby School Thailand, are in or near the area, along with golf courses and large supermarkets on Sukhumvit Road. The beaches and the city centre are a drive away; how long it takes depends on the location and traffic. There is almost no public transport, so a car is a must; in return, the streets are quieter and greener than close to the sea.
